『메리 스크랜튼』은 이화학당(이화여대의 전신)의 설립자이자 한국에 온 최초의 외국인 여성선교사인 메리 F. 스크랜튼(Mary Fletcher Scranton, 1832-1909)의 생애와 선교사역을 집중 조명한 연구서이다. 지난 2009년 10월 메리 스크랜튼 서거 100주기 기념학술대회 발표문들을 기반으로 하고 있는 이 책에서는 그동안 다른 선교사들에 비해 덜 알려져 있는 메리 스크랜튼의 새로운 전기적 자료들과 한국에서의 활동내역, 그의 교육정신 등을 소상하게 다루고 있다.
